Coronado has a New Canine Mayor!

Last minute voting was fast and furious with over 5000 votes being cast in the last two days of open voting. The new Canine Mayor and his Vice Mayor were announced at an Inaugural Event held last evening at the Coronado Animal Care Facility. Human Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka presented the newly elected officials and their council to an excited crowd filled with people and their dogs. Coverage by Fox News 5 and KFMB Channel 8 News television crews added to the crowd’s anticipation.

PAWS President Karen Dwinell ran down the tally of votes: over half of the votes were cast online through the PAWS PayPal account. Over 5000 votes were cast over the weekend during the last two days of voting with the ballot box at the Flower Show trumping all of the other ballot boxes.

Votes came in from across the US - in addition to California voters, the Caninedates had supporters in Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.

And the winner is…

The winner and new Canine Mayor of Coronado with 4677 votes is Bently James!

His Vice Mayor with 2244 votes is Blade.

The other 16 Caninedates make up the Canine Council.

It was a wonderful field of Caninedates and truly every dog is a winner.
