Take a Look at the Tavern

Industrial vintage decor greets guests as they try out one of Coronado's newest eateries.

The Tavern restaurant quietly opened its doors for dinner last month, but the owners of this spacious locale didn't waste any time getting into the swing of things.

Sean and Peggy Halpin, owners of boutique, along with partner Craig Becky, expanded their new restaurant's dining hours a week later and are now serving lunch as well.

Who said Coronado rolls up and shuts down at 10 p.m?  The full service "industrial vintage" restaurant serves a full menu from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a limited menu until midnight, providing Coronado residents with a late-night dining alternative.

And to take you in to the wee hours of the morning on those special occasions, the bar serves specialty drinks like Lemon Basil Martinis and Moscow Mules until 2 a.m!

This inviting new restaurant features not one, but two happy hours. The regular afternoon cocktail hours are 4 to 7 p.m. In case you missed the evening's $4 house wines, well drinks and drafts, you can also go to a reverse happy hour from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and enjoy these libations for the same price, with items from their smaller menu served until midnight.

Peggy Halpin is proud of a unique feature at her restaurant – a family-style table created from an old wooden cart. It has wheels to roll along wall-length bench seating, allowing room for groups of 10-12 and for more tables and chairs to be added for even more guests.

She recommends the Tavern's cheese-stuffed meatloaf or mac and cheese in a skillet, which she says is “to die for!”

Ron's Garage will entertain guests with live music from 8-11 p.m. Thursdays.

The Tavern is located at 1310 Orange Ave. For reservations call (619) 437-0611.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
