Poll: Is the Season Over for the San Diego Padres—Last in NL West?

Only one team in Major League Baseball has a worse record than the local professional ballclub.

The San Diego Padres are on a roll—having won two games in a row.  Better yet, the 11-20 Friars are no longer the worst team in baseball. (Thank you, 8-21 Twins!)  But mired in last place in the National League West, the Padres are 8 1/2 games behind the division-leading Dodgers. (The horrors!) It could be worse. We could have paid $240 million for a player only to end up last, like the Angels.  The question remains: Is the season over for the Padres?  Or does hope remain for a May Miracle and pennant race?

!!OVER !! For this bunch it never started, The owner's (Who ever they might be at the time) have never considered briinging trher customers a pennant capable team, they trade away anyone that shows any skill at the game and their mantra for as long as I can remember is " Just wait till next year" What a crock it is MONEY period.

This team is an embarrassment of embarrassments. I feel sorry for anyone who actually bought the smoke being blown up their skirt during the preseason. The question is how long will the fans still committed to this team allow ownership to kick them in the teeth? You're exactly right Ed, any player worth his salt will be dealt for cash by the All Star break.

The Padres were done when they were purchased by John Moores. First he scammed $800,000,000 from the stockholders of Peregrine Systems just barely and unjustly avoiding prison while his buddies went to jail for him. He then scammed $500,000,000 from the tax payers of San Diego for a new stadium. Don't be taken in by the hype. Anyone who supports the Padres in any way is a fool.

I agree whole heartedly with this statement! I predicted only 60 wins for the season in a poll taken before the opener. We could maybe compete against the LL Pony league caliber right now. Come on Chargers August preseason.
