Plans for Summer: How to Avoid Sunburns and Bored Kids

It never hurts to hear things twice: Here is some summer advice for the whole family.

My husband will send me ideas for my column because his company has a health and wellness group. On occasion someone in the group will pass on some health tips or fun ways to stay in shape.

Recently he sent me an article on skin care during the hot summer months, which is a topic I covered last summer. However, I thought that if my husband didn't remember that article, it’s probably not on the forefront of anyone else’s mind either. So I’ve decided to look back at my favorite summer-related articles.

  • Take time to put on and protect your skin. If you do get a , here are some tips to help ease the pain.
  • All the parents out there know that summer boredom can be a huge problem. Plan ahead by using a summer jar full of
ideas and chores to do for the summer. See what ideas you can come up with this summer.
  • Athletes plan ahead for and training opportunities. Tell the kids you get so much more out of summer training with a goal in place and when you go to camps with the right mind set.
  • The last reminder I would like to share is not just for summertime but for anytime. Kindness is always in season and you can make someone’s day with just a little .

I hope you can reconnect with some past topics and think back about how far you have come since last summer. This is a great time of year to connect with family, enjoy the outdoors, and re-read some of my past articles on wellness.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
