Some Halloween fun is coming to the Coronado's Farmers Market Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, the Halloween spirit falls upon our farmers in the parking lot of Il Fornaio. Kids can get their creative juices flowing while their parents shop around for fresh food for the week at the . It’s time again for the annual tradition of pumpkin painting.

Each year, the sets up pumpkin painting for young ones in the area. The center utilizes our farmers market to provide pumpkins for the munchkins so they can have some safe Halloween fun.

Painting tools are supplied by the rec center and perfect-sized pumpkins are donated by and local farmer . All the pumpkins are small enough for young kids to carry, though Hillebrecht said kids can snatch up larger ones, if they want.

“They can buy a bigger one and paint it,” she said.

Hillebrecth sells , which are significantly greater in size than the “triple treat” ones. The first 100 pumpkins will be free for kids who want to paint. Anything leftover will be donated to the rec department to take home.

Have a kids that’s excited about the upcoming holiday? Take them to the farmers market Tuesday between 3:30 and 5 p.m. Kids under 13 will receive a free pumpkin to paint. Hillebrecht also has stickers for young children to make silly faces on their squash.

Parents can shop around while the kids paint. My advice? Buy a pumpkin for yourself and stay tuned for next week’s roasted pumpkin recipe. I’ll also allow you to make some if squash isn’t your thing. Happy painting!
