Kennard Hjalmer Johnson died Aug. 31, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.
He was 90.
He was born in Nebraska and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941. He served for nearly 20 years before entering the insurance business, according to the newspaper.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the San Carlos United Methodist Church in San Diego, according to the newspaper.
