Julianne Sawyer Whaley, 81

Whaley, born and raised in Coronado, loved to host a good party, enjoyed traveling in Mexico and practicing conservation in her day-to-day life.

Julianne Sawyer Whaley, a mother of four who was born across the street from her parents' Orange Avenue business, died May 29, according to Legacy.com.

She was 81.

She was married to William Semmes Whaley for nearly 60 years and built a home that was the base for such extensive parties that during “a couple of summers there were so many people that youngsters had to be put in tents in the backyard,” according to the obituary.

There were no services. Her ashes were buried in the garden at Christ Episcopal Church.
