Dr. George R. Fricke—a prominent Sacramento physician who retired to Coronado in the late 1980s—died Oct. 20, according to an obituary in the Sacramento Bee.
He was 86.
Dr. Fricke was a star tennis and basketball player at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and later attended the University of Illinois Medical School, the Bee said.
He delivered more than 3,000 babies and helped found Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, his obituary said.
“After Dr. Fricke retired, he moved from Sacramento to Coronado, where he enjoyed 25 years of beautiful weather and ocean breezes,” the Bee said.
A private family service was planned.
