David B. Hopkins, 66, Dies; Attorney, Yale Grad Attended Christ Church

Hopkins, who specialized in business litigation, was a partner in the Sullivan Hill firm in San Diego.

David Brooks Hopkins, a San Diego attorney who attended Christ Episcopal Church, died April 6, 2013 of cancer, according to Legacy.com.

Services are planned for next month.

He was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Cleveland to David and Mary Louise Hopkins. He earned a B.A. in history from Yale University in 1970 and a law Degree from Boston University five years later.

The attorney served in various firms, including Arter and Hadden in Cleveland, where he rose to become a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. He moved to San Diego in 1986, according to Legacy.com, and joined Hillyer and Irwin, which after a merger became Sullivan-Hill, where he remained a partner.

The church volunteer is survived by his wife, Carol; stepchildren, Maureen Friend of Mira Mesa and Sam Winner of Annapolis, MD; sister, Marilyn Langmack of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and two nieces, the report said.

Donations in his memory may be made to Episcopal Community Services, 4305 University Ave., San Diego, 92105. 

Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Coronado, at 2 p.m May 4.
