Navy's Blue Angels to Return to Sky in 2014
The Blue Angels will open the 2014 schedule March 15 at the Navy air base in El Centro, followed by 65 shows in 34 locations, including at Miramar on Oct. 4-5.
The Blue Angels flight demonstration team will fly a full schedule of air shows next year, including at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the Navy announced Tuesday.
The Blue Angels, six pilots in F/A-18s who perform death-defying aerial stunts, had most of their shows scrapped this year because of mandated federal budget cuts known as sequestration.
The entire Miramar Air Show was canceled by the federal government shutdown earlier this month.

"Community outreach is key to connecting Americans to the military," said Cmdr. Thomas Frosch, the Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader. "Our performances provide a unique opportunity to inspire millions to connect with and support our service members, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2014 season."
