Navy Reserves Parking for Families of Fallen

With the Gold Star program, parking is now reserved at Naval Air Station North Island and other Navy installations for the families of sailors who were killed serving their country.

Commander, Navy Installations (CNIC) has implemented a new program which
designates parking spaces and ensures continued access at all Navy installations for surviving family members of those who have given their all in defense of our country.

While the details and issuance of Gold Star access cards are still being finalized, the overall scope of the program is intended to allow these Navy family members access to resources and support services without having to obtain an escort onto the base.

Gold Star Family (GSF) members of fallen service members can receive the paperwork to register for the program with the Department of the Navy’s Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO) program.

Naval Base Coronado, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado and Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach have already begun implementing the GSF parking spaces.

Designated spaces are located at base Navy Exchanges, Commissaries, Medical and Dental facilities, Fleet and Family Service Centers, as well as the base Chapels.

Though a seemingly small gesture, the sentiment is that of respect and honor.
