Military Monday: Torpedo Bombers Flying 73 Years Ago Today

Each Monday, Patch will bring you an interesting military post. This week, check out TBD-1 Devastators of Torpedo Squadron (VT) 2 in formation 73 years ago today.

The 73-year-old photo was posted by the National Naval Aviation Museum and then Naval Base Coronado on Monday. The photo shows TBD-1 Devastators of Torpedo Squadron (VT) 2 in formation. The museum notes that the paint schemes on the airplanes were soon replaced with a camouflage scheme outlined in a Bureau of Aeronautics directive issued about one week before this photograph, on January 6, 1941.
