The Coronado Council of the Navy League of the US has established a new program to honor spouses or other individuals who deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to the Commands at Naval Base Coronado.
The first recipient of this award is Marybeth Thompson, whose husband, Jason Thompson, serves as a Chief with Naval Special Warfare.
Marybeth, a proud and accomplished military spouse and mother of two sons and a stepdaughter, has supported the military community in countless ways.
She has served as the former President of Naval Special Warfare Center Family Readiness Group, is the current President for the Family Readiness Group for SEAL Team Seven, and is ready to start her new job as Naval Special Warfare Family Support Coordinator for Group 11 (the two Reserve SEAL teams).
In 2012 she was a nominee for the San Diego Navy League Spouse of the Year.
Among her many undertakings, she co-chaired the Naval Special Warfare Command Holiday Party for 1000+ attendees, she created additional programs for all NSW SOCOM commands including Mommy Meet-ups, Mom's Night Out, play groups, spouse appreciation events, and a command-wide book club for spouses.
She also developed and led the Fit-4-Mom Stroller Strides program for Lincoln Military Housing spouses for seven years as well as hosting programs and other events to support the families.
In addition to her commitments to the military community, she somehow managed to find time to participate in leadership roles in local community groups including the PTA, Cub Scouts, and Pop Warner Football.
Council of the Navy League wishes to thank Navy League member Clark Nicols and
his company - R3 Strategic Support Group, Inc. for sponsoring the appreciation
gift for Marybeth, a deserving and exemplary recipient of their first award.
