Officer Jordan Good and firefighter David Pepsny had their heads shorn as part of “Be Brave and Shave,” an event which called on those who work for local public safety agencies to give up their hair for the cause.

Good brought in the most of any of the individuals in the fundraiser, more than $2,000.

Officers and firefighters from Carlsbad, San Diego, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and local universities and fire districts participated in the event, at the Clairemont Sport Clips. Proceeds will benefit the hospital's Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
