Teen Inventor a Hit on Kickstarter With Onda Cycle

Tyler Hadzicki, who once attended Sacred Heart, has raised nearly $50,000 for his invention. His father, Joseph, runs a Poway kite company.

Tyler Hadzicki, a one-time Crusader at Sacred Heart Parish School in Coronado, is getting kudos all around for his invention, the Onda cycle.

The soon-to-be high school senior embarked on a Kickstarter campaign to fund the cycle, reported 10news.com. It succeeded last month, according to Kickstarter, raising more than $46,000, more than tripling the initial goal.

He first presented the invention at a Sacred Heart science fair, according to a school alumni newsletter, and when he later went to St. Augustine High School in San Diego, the campus newsletter praised him two years ago when he got his machine patented.

What is it? It's a cross between a bicycle and a childhood fave, the Big Wheel, allowing riders a more adventurous, Extreme-Sports style experience. Tyler asked his dad, Joseph, an engineer and inventor who runs Revolution Enterprises, a Poway company, to help him design it.
