Reminder: Deck Your House, Win $100,000 for Schools

Your decorating skills could net cash for kids in public schools, courtesy of Patch.

You have your lights? Check. Your inflatables? Check. Your wreaths? Check.

Then you're ready for Patch.com's Deck the House, a nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in our Patch communities. But the contest isn't just for bragging rights – the winner’s public school district will receive $100,000.

How many art supplies, technology upgrades and musical instruments could that money buy? A lot!

Here’s how the contest works: Beginning Dec. 8 and continuing through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site. During that same period you and your neighbors also will be able to vote for your favorite festive home.

Winning entries from across the country will be forwarded to a national Patch judge who will select 24 finalists. Each finalist will receive $500 to apply to their December electric bill (Christmas lights are pretty and pretty costly. We get it!).

From Dec. 30 through Jan. 8 you will be able to vote for the Best Decked House in all of Patch. The grand prize winner’s school district will receive a $100,000 check from Patch.

So, get out your lights and ladders (and your competitive and generous spirits)!

Whether your style is sophisticated or silly, we want you to dress up your house in the name of good cheer and our kids.

And if Coronado wins, what better gift could we give to local kids?
