The premise of the feel-good film surrounds an angel’s quest to help a compassionate, yet frustrated businessman, George Bailey (Stewart) who’s lost a large sum of money. He contemplates suicide, believing that his whole family would be better off without him when Clarence, said angel, intervenes.
