Education Programs in San Diego To Get a Major Boost From the San Diego Women’s Foundation on June 5th

Each year it stands out as one of the most meaningful events for the San Diego Women’s Foundation. The Annual Grants Celebration will feature the official announcement of the deserving nonprofits who will receive a total of $197,300 in funding in the coming year to advance their programs.  The celebration on June 5 will be held at the Francis Parker Middle & Upper School, 6501 Linda Vista Road in San Diego. The event begins with a reception at 5:30, with the program scheduled to kick-off at 6pm sharp. Foundation members and supporters from around San Diego are expected to attend the free event.

This year’s grantees, who all work in the area of education, were selected through a thorough vetting process and final vote by all members. The grantee organizations to be officially announced at the celebration are:

  • Bayside Community Center
  • Community Housing Works
  • Excellence and Justice in Education Academies (EJEA)
  • International Rescue Committee
  • Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties

The event on June 5 will also feature testimonials from those who received grants last year in the area of Arts & Culture, further proving the philosophy embraced by every member: women can do more than woman.

“The Annual Grants Celebration gives us the incredible opportunity to get an up-close look at the difference our grants have made, and will make, in the lives of San Diegans,” said Teresa Jacques, Board President of the San Diego Women’s Foundation. “We are especially excited by this year’s focus because we truly believe education can’t way for someday. For anyone interested in improving education, making a better San Diego, or meeting other women committed to making a difference, this is the place to be on June 5.

This year will feature one other special addition to the event. All attendees are invited to bring new or gently used books appropriate for K-5 children. The foundation will then contribute them to one of the grantees.
