Walk Like MADD San Diego 2013

Walk Like MADD San Diego!    Mothers Against Drunk Driving San Diego, alongside community members, San Diego area Law enforcement, and area businesses, will tie on those walking shoes to urge San Diegans to NOT drink and drive.

The annual “Walk Like MADD,” our signature 5K, non-competitive, fundraising and awareness program brings hundreds of people from throughout Southern California together to continue the fight to eliminate drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking!

This family-friendly event (dogs invited!) includes music by the local band, “The Heroes;” displays of the latest in law enforcement technology; special presentations for teens and kids; a tribute area to the victims of drunk driving crashes; and a special law enforcement challenge relay that includes motorcycles, K-9 teams, and doughnuts!

WHY:   In 2011,9,878 people died in drunk driving crashes nationwide — one every 53 minutes — and about 315,000 were injured in drunk driving crashes.  The upcoming holidays are significantly more dangerous times for alcohol-related fatalities especially among teens and young adults.

Heightened awareness and strong parent involvement can directly influence a young person’s decision making process and save lives!
