The entire Coronado community is invited to a very special and unique Beach Clean Up, “Abstract Trash: Transforming Trash Into Art” this Sunday, February 3rd from 12:30-2:30pm.

Leading this afternoon of community service with an artistic flair are two Coronado Girl Scouts from Troop 5065, Karen Ray Nelson and Ashlyn Hirsh. This service project goes towards fulfilling their Silver Award and they encourage participation because beach and bay clean up will improve sea life survival, beautification of our island, and encourage community support.

The girls will also be providing an educational opportunity for the participants as well as refreshments, trash bags and gloves.

The “Abstract Trash” will be created the day of the event and presented to the City of Coronado for display.

Participants are to meet at the dock at the Ferry Landing. We hope you decide to join us for this special event of combining community, environment and art!

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
