CoSA Prospective Student Workshop

                Interested

in applying to CoSA? Check out the Prospective Student Workshop for all

interested students and their families! Students from around San Diego County

who are in 8th, 9th and 10th grade with a

craving for creativity are invited.  Coronado

School of the Arts is an award-winning public arts conservatory located on the

campus of Coronado High School.  CoSA

nurtures artistic individuality as well as fosters academic excellence, and is

open to all San Diego County students who have a passion for the arts and meet

the admission requirements for the school.

School of the Arts (CoSA) will hold its annual Prospective Student Workshop on Monday

January 27 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Coronado High School, 650 D Avenue,

Coronado CA  92118. No need to RSVP. We

look forward to meeting you!





Get tips on performing your best audition, how to put

together a portfolio that shows off your talents and learn interview techniques

from the pros: CoSA’s award-winning faculty ! Meet in the Black Box at 6:00 to review CoSA's

application and acceptance process, then families will go to the conservatory

of their choice (out of Classical & Contemporary Dance, Digital

Media, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre & Drama, Technical Theatre, and

Visual Arts)  to get in-depth audition/interview

information, catered to each artistic medium. Students and their parents

will be guided through CoSA’s application and audition/interview process, and

be able to ask questions and talk to faculty members one-on-one.

Students also have a chance to see

CoSA’s state-of-the art Performing Arts Center, including the 550-seat main

stage theatre and the more intimate Black Box theatre, the broadcast studio,

the digital music lab, dance studios and more.





Each year, CoSA students earn local

and national awards, from the Old Globe Honors and National Youth Arts awards

to the Red Rock Film Festival “Audience Favorite.”  CoSA’s faculty also garners awards; last year

two teachers, Gina Sorensen and Kim Strassburger, were awarded National Artist

Teacher Fellowships, taking them to New York and Oxford, England to study

modern dance and Shakespeare, respectively.

COSA’s students have gone on to the

nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities, including Massachusetts

Institute of Technology  (MIT), Harvard

University,  Berklee School of Music,

UCLA and the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and 

Television, Northwestern, Stanford, USC, NYU, and many others.  CoSA’s students are trained and prepared to

work in their artistic fields, and their unique, inquiring minds with a desire

to create are in demand in today’s highly competitive college applicant pool.





CoSA has been called San Diego

County’s premier arts conservatory and is the winner of numerous prestigious

arts awards including the California State

2009 Golden Bell for Visual and Performing Arts
, was one of five National Outstanding Arts Schools in

2010, and received a National Music Education Merit Award in 2013 for exemplary

support of music education in the United States.  Coronado High School was named a California Distinguished School in 2011

and honored with an Exemplary Career

Technical Education Award
, in large part due to CoSA’s programs of

school-to-career instruction.
