Increase Our City Revenue

If everyone in Coronado made a conscience effort to buy locally, we would see a remarkable increase in city revenue.

If everyone in Coronado made a conscience effort to buy locally, we would see a remarkable increase in city revenue. While Coronado doesn’t offer everything we might need for a household, such as a wide selection of clothing, shoes, and bulk items, it does offer other products and services.

You can purchase all of your office supplies at Business Products Express, owned by Matt Bartell, a retired veteran. He has an expansive warehouse selection, and if he doesn’t have something you require on hand, he can order it for you and have it the next day. We have been using his business for four years for all of our office and school supply needs and have been more than satisfied. He is also a friend and neighbor.

Instead of going off the island for bodywork for you automobile, there is Pacheco’s Auto Body, located in the alley behind Well’s Fargo Bank. Many locals don’t know about Pacheco’s because of their discreet location. They do fantastic work and we end up referring all of our customers there.

For gift buying there is a great boutique called Austin’s Gallery on C Ave, where local artists can display their work, and prices are very reasonable, run by our friend Linda, also a local neighbor. Instead of hitting a big box store such as Barnes & Nobles, hit up Bay Books to purchase your next great read. There they will order any book for you they do not have, and you will feel great for supporting them instead of another chain operation.

Kephart Plumbing is another local business owner and resident of Coronado. David Kephart is there for you when you need him and does expert work. So instead of calling someone off Island, his company is an option, in addition to a few other local plumbing outfits.

For a delicious cup of java you can buy from the coffee cart outside of Bay Books or from Café 1134, instead of Starbucks. Greg, at Del Coronado Jewelers, located in the Del Shops, has an exquisite selection of fine jewelry, and is another local resident.

Get your car washed at El Cordova Garage and save yourself the gas money driving to Imperial Beach, in addition to complete auto repair, towing and vehicle storage.

There are many ways we can all make the effort to increase Coronado’s revenue. With many businesses and shops to choose from, you can take care of most of your purchasing needs. It is our town, we love living here and we want to keep it beautiful and bountiful.

To take things a step further, if you are a die-hard like me, I try to buy American as much as possible. There are many companies online that offer American-made products, such as shoes and clothing. I buy my dairy products from California so they aren’t trucked here over thousands of miles and try to buy produce as close to home as I can. We can all make a difference in our community. It’s all about making the decision to do so and sticking with it.
