Weekend's Best Bets

Spend Valentine's weekend at a love-day run and learning all about Coronado's history of naval aviation.

Looking for some weekend activities? We got you covered with the top weekend events to keep you busy, entertained, and even fit!

  • Celebration for aviation: To celebrate 100 years of naval aviation, is hosting an open house on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. A historic will begin at 1 p.m. and will include Navy, Marine and Coast Guard aircraft, from pre-WWI to the present Blue Angels F/A-18 jets, flying over . Enjoy this spectacular aerial review from the NASNI show center, which offers the best vantage point. You will also be able to tour an aircraft carrier. This event is free and open to the public. Added bonus: free parking!
  • Local aviation fun: Check out the local exhibit of all-things naval aviation over at the . Happening every day, including Sunday, shows rare photographs and documents of early aviation. See how Coronado became the birthplace of . Saturday hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The exhibit is free, but donations are always welcome.
  • Love to run? Run for love! Don’t forget the is Sunday, Feb. 13. Pick up your packets today from noon-6 p.m. at or tomorrow from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Gordon Biersch in Mission Valley. Teens can run this event, moms can stroll it with their kids in tow, and beginners can jog it. The race takes place at at 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning. There is a raffle afterward at McP’s Irish Pub and Grill. All proceeds benefit the Islander Sports Foundation and the Stephen J. Wampler Foundation. Good luck everyone!
