Visit the Market; Make Note of Meetings

Visit the weekly farmers market for fresh citrus and pet adoptions, attend some important local meetings, and learn a unique way to use a banana peel.

1. Farmers market: Stock up on in town today at the . Browse through lemons, limes and Valencia oranges from Polito Family Farms. The market takes place inside the parking lot of Il Fornaio at Ferry Landing and begins at 2:30 p.m.

2. Pet adoptions at market: will be at the farmers market today. Stop by their booth to check out pets that are available for adoption, like their pet of the week, Dillon, an orange male tabby who’s mellow and lovable. PAWS will have their tent set up just outside the market. Stop by anytime from 2:30-6 p.m. to an adorable pet.

3. Meeting canceled: The scheduled for this afternoon has been canceled. This commission typically meets every second and fourth Tuesday in the Council Chambers at . Please note this week's cancellation.

4. SEPAC meeting : Today, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., SEPAC will hold its at the . The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee will present information on applied behavior analysis (ABA). If you have a child with autism or other developmental disabilities, you are welcome to join the meeting. Pizza will be donated by and there will be a JCPenny gift certificate raffle.

5. Don’t throw out that banana peel: After you’ve eaten your morning banana, toss the peel into the dirt under your rose bushes. The peel acts as a natural fertilizer and because it rots quickly, its nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, phosphates and sodium, reach the plant’s roots fast.
