Seau Named to Chargers Hall of Fame

Around the Region: We'll be feeling some heat and the Old Globe gets a new leading man.

Junior Seau, a native San Diegan who spent 13 seasons with the San Diego Chargers, was named Tuesday as the 35th member of the team's Hall of Fame.

Seau, a linebacker, was a Charger from 1990-2002 and a six-time first-team All-Pro selection by the Associated Press. He was named to the Pro Bowl for 12 consecutive seasons, a Charger record and the third-longest streak in NFL history.

Seau, 42, was born in San Diego, graduated from Oceanside High School and played two seasons at USC. After leaving the Chargers, he played for the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots.

Seau will be inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame at the team's Nov. 27 game against the Denver Broncos at Qualcomm Stadium.

“His athletic ability speaks for itself, but it's his passion and
energy that separate him from the rest of the league,” said Chargers Chairman of the Board and President Dean Spanos.

The Old Globe Theatre has named a new leading man for its September production of the Rocky Horror Show. Matt McGrath, who recently starred in a revival of Cabaret, will replace Broadway actor James Barbour, who exited last week after reports of a decade-old scandal involving Barbour and a 15-year-old girl in New York. He was convicted of misdemeanor charges in the case three years ago.
