Saturday Brings a Centennial Celebration and Cove Cleanup

1. Free movie: Coronado kicks off the official celebration of the Centennial of Naval Aviation tonight at . If you’ve obtained access permission to the base, come enjoy a 20-minute montage with a curator from the , and a movie filmed in and around Coronado, Dive Bombers. The event goes from 2–4 p.m. and is free.

2. Clean it up: Help out our and wild animals by our cove. Visit today at 9 a.m. and, along with other volunteers, clean up our beach. Parking is available in two lots on the opposite side of and waivers will be available to sign if the volunteer is under the age of 18. Bring sturdy boots and wear plenty of sunscreen.

3. Craving donuts? You’ve got to earn those sweet round treats. Bike today with the on their weekly 18-mile round trip. The group bikes to and from and celebrates with donuts and coffee afterward. Everyone is welcome to the event, which starts at 7 a.m. and all riders are asked to bring $1 for the "breakfast" after the long journey.

4. Free program for kids: Bring your 7- to 12-year-olds down to today for some good-natured fun. Activities for this program include , demonstrations, projects and games. If your child accomplishes special tasks, they will be rewarded with things like pins, posters and patches. The program is free and goes from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
