Tom and Patty Reis of Bakersfield talked to news station KGET Friday about their children, Lt. David Reis and his sister Karen, , along with another man, Matthew Saturley of Chula Vista.
, after a night of clubbing with the Reis siblings in San Diego. Though the shootings appear to be a case of murder-suicide, investigators, according to KGET, continue to look into the case.
The Reis' parents, along with daughter Melanie, discussed their memories of David, an F/A-18 pilot, and Karen, a UC San Diego graduate and high school volleyball coach.
Patty Reis recalled her son's glee at recounting his flying adventures, while Melanie Reis told KGET that she lost her best friend when her sister died.
Via a Facebook page, the family also is distributing “Reis Ripple” bracelets to honor David and Karen. They are meant to symbolize the ripple effect the siblings could still have, through others' good works, despite being gone.
