Today, approximately 2,000 members of the U.S. Navy, Naval Special Warfare and San Diego military communities came together at San Diego's Rock Church to mourn the loss of service members who perished during a tragic helicopter crash in Afghanistan Aug. 6.

The hour-long event provided families, friends and colleagues of the fallen a private opportunity to pay final respects to heroes who have given their lives in defense of the country.

The Naval Special Warfare community thanks the people of San Diego and communities across the nation for their generosity and an outpouring of support during this time of mourning and healing. The Navy family remains eternally grateful for that generosity and support.
