More High Surf, Thanks to Northern Storms

Advisory will continue through early Saturday.

 

Several storms in the northwest Pacific Ocean are bringing big waves to San Diego County beginning Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency issued a high surf advisory for the region until 2 a.m. Saturday.

The advisory covers most of the county, on beaches from Encinitas through Coronado to the mouth of the Tijuana River, according to the NWS.

Waves are expected to measure 5 to 7 feet, with sets up to 9 feet.

“Swimming or surfing in these waves may be dangerous for anyone due to the powerful waves and strong rip currents,” according to the Weather Service.
