Enjoy Big Bay Balloon Parade and Family Fest, Prior to Holiday Bowl

The annual events help celebrate Thursday night's Holiday Bowl, featuring UCLA and Baylor.

The 22nd annual Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade, billed by organizers as the nation's largest balloon parade, will be held Thursday, with a different route.

The 10 a.m. parade will divert onto Ash Street and Pacific Highway, due to construction on North Harbor Drive. It will include marching bands, floats and drill teams in addition to the balloons.

Jared Gilmore from ABC's Once Upon a Time will be the Grand Marshal. Last year a Coronadan, retired Vice Admiral Edward Martin, did the honors.

Parade festivities are due to begin with the finals of the 16th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals at 9:30 a.m. and the Bumble Bee Foods 5K run at 9:45 a.m.

Channel 4 San Diego will produce the event and televise it locally. USA Network will carry the national broadcast..

A family festival with games and entertainment will follow the parade on Broadway Pier.

Marching bands from Baylor and UCLA, the participants in the Holiday Bowl football game, will perform live at the family festival from the end of the parade at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The game kicks off at 6:45 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium.
