Relief at the Gas Pump? Prices Fall for 4th Straight Day

After a month of daily increases, prices have fallen a couple of pennies in recent days.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the region  decreased Sunday for the fourth consecutive day, falling nine-tenths of a cent to $4.267.

The average price is 2.6 cents less than one week ago in San Diego County and 10.5 cents lower than one year ago, but 28.6 cents higher than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

In Coronado, prices have hit the $5 mark – see Patch's Gas Tracker for prices in town and other options.

Prior to the recent decreases, gas had gone up on 28 of the previous 30 days.

The dropping prices are the result of decreasing prices for oil and gasoline futures caused by an increase in fuel supplies stemming from increased production by refineries, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
