An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 hit Wednesday afternoon off the coast, but caused no reported damage or significant ground tremors.
The 2:28 p.m. temblor was centered near Santa Catalina Island, about 13 miles west of Del Mar, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No emergency calls resulted from the shaker, according to dispatchers with several northern San Diego County public-safety agencies.
The surf off the coast remained mild following the reported time of the quake, a Del Mar lifeguard said.
