Update: El Cajon Man Arrested in Bridge Crash That Injured 2

Update 1:25 p.m. Monday May 20: CHP has identified the man arrested as Phillip Eggers, 24, of El Cajon. In addition to attempted murder, he is also being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment. His arraignment is set for Wednesday May 22.

A crash Saturday that authorities suspect may have been part of a road-rage incident left two people injured and one person under arrest, 10News.com reported.

The wreck was reported shortly before 6 p.m. in the Coronado-bound lanes of the bridge, San Diego police told Channel 10. An off-duty San Diego officer saw a motorcycle and BMW in traffic and said the car appeared to deliberately veer into the motorcycle, knocking its riders to the road.

The officer followed the BMW down Glorietta Boulevard, where the driver was taken into custody. According to the report, he faces attempted murder charges.

The victims, police said, were seriously hurt, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
