Sharp HealthCare Expands Spectrum of Care with Coronado Hospital's Healthy Living Center

Coronado residents and Sharp HealthCare members throughout San Diego now have access to a new Healthy Living Center at Sharp Coronado Hospital. The major remodel replaces The Motion Center on the third floor of the hospital. General contractor Pacific Building Group recently completed construction.

The Healthy Living Center will expand Sharp’s spectrum of care by providing a membership-based, state-of-the-art fitness and health center with a spa-like environment. The center will also serve as part of Sharp’s patient after-care program, offering post-surgical physical rehabilitation equipment and care.

Additionally, the Healthy Living Center features high-quality fitness equipment, fitness and other wellness classes, nutritionist services, acupuncture, massage therapy and more. The remodel allows Sharp to expand the variety of classes and services formerly offered at The Motion Center.

San Diego-based Pacific Building Group teamed with architect Richard Yen & Associates to complete the 8,000-square-foot, design/build renovation. The design and construction program included upgrades and new finishes for hallway, storage and boardroom areas, as well as major remodeling for the fitness center, treatment rooms, acupuncture and massage therapy rooms, the yoga and Tai Chi classroom and the physical therapy room. Work also included ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) upgrades as well as general upgrades to staff lounges, workrooms, offices and support areas.

“Sharp HealthCare has demonstrated an on-going commitment to improving the health and wellness experience,” says Jim Roherty, president of Pacific Building Group. “We were proud to help Sharp create a unique wellness facility consistent with the organization’s high standards.”
