Happy Holidays — Here's 2 Hours Free Parking!

The meters will be "unbagged" on Friday, Dec. 27. Go out and enjoy shopping, dinner and movies with free parking in the meanwhile.

Leave your loose change at home. The City of Coronado "bagged" the parking meters in the commercial zones earlier this week to allow free two-hour parking. Consider it a gift from the city for the holidays.

"The City will forego expected meter revenue and hopefully receive additional retail patronage," City Manager Blair King posted in his weekly update. "The Chamber of Commerce, which makes the annual request, will advise merchants to encourage employees to not park in the free parking stalls."

While you won't need to feed the meter, you will need to mind time limits. The two-hour time limit will be enforced.
