Gas Prices Slip for 7th Day in a Row

The drop comes in the time for the big holiday weekend, though prices are still significantly higher than a year ago.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell Wednesday for the seventh consecutive day, dropping nine-tenths of a cent to $4.326, one day after decreasing three-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 4.6 cents less than one week ago, but 12.4 cents more than one month ago and 23.2 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The falling pump prices follow a nearly 30 cents per gallon decrease in the wholesale price of California-blend gasoline on the New York Mercantile Exchange early last week.

Analysts said the completion of maintenance at refineries in Southern California and Northern California helped end record-low inventories, ushering in lower wholesale prices.
