‘Meet’ Kate Morgan at Hotel Del Book Signing

Just in time for Halloween, on Sunday the Del's historian will sign copies of 'Beautiful Stranger,' a book about the ghost, who is said to reside inside the hotel.

During the Halloween season, the goblins and witches come out to play. But perhaps the most famous mascot of this spooky time of year? The ghost, of course.

Lucky for us, Coronado has its own famous spirit.

is known for haunting the hallways of the . On Thanksgiving in 1892, the 20-something checked into the Hotel del Coronado alone and appearing ill. Five days later, Kate was found dead on an exterior staircase leading to the beach, with a gunshot wound to her head, which investigatators later determined was self-inflicted.

No personal belongings were found in Kate’s room. It was later discovered that her name was listed at check-in as Lottie A. Bernard.

Since her death, guests and staff at the Hotel Del have reported paranormal activity and sightings. Kate has become wildly famous and the hotel’s historian, Christine Donovan, compiled a book on the ghostly girl called Beautiful Stranger: The Ghost of Kate Morgan and the Hotel del Coronado, which reflects the most accurate report of the legendary story to date.
