'Chicago' On Stage at Coronado Playhouse in January

Get ready to paint the town, and all that jazz.

Chicago, the award-winning Broadway musical originally directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, will be reimagined by the Coronado Playhouse when the curtain goes up next month. Staged in a Prohibition-era speakeasy cabaret, the production has been tailored to the theater's intimate setting.

The cast features Allison Boettcher as Roxie Hart, Meredith Russo as Velma and David Guthrie as Billy Flynn. Tori Roze is "Mama" Morton.

The curtain goes up Jan. 17. The play runs through Feb. 23.

Coronado Playhouse is partnering with Make-A-Wish San Diego to raise money in support of children with life-threatening illnesses, and will also offer a special OUT Night for the LGBT community Jan. 23.
