Warm Up For National Garage Sale Day By Posting Your Sale on Patch

It seems like there’s a national day for just about everything these days—, iced tea, fudge and more. This weekend, there's another odd one and Patch wants to help you join in.

Saturday, Aug. 13 marks National Garage Sale Day. Sales require lots of preparation: Sifting through, organizing and pricing your belongings and, of course, advertising the sale.

That's where we come in: We can make life easier by telling the community about your sale. It’s easy and free! Just follow the simple steps below and share your event.

How to Post Your Garage Sale on Patch:

1. Click on the events tab at the top of the homepage and then click “Browse Events” from the drop down box. (Click here to be taken directly to the events search page.)
2. In the top right corner, there is an icon labeled “+Add an Event.” Click to get started on your sale announcement.
3. Add a title to your event (“Garage Sale on B Avenue,” “Moving Sale: Everything Must Go,” etc. We know this is exciting, but try to leave out the multiple exclamation points).
4. Add a date, time and location for the garage sale. *Note:If you’re having the event all weekend, check the box underneath the “time” slot. A drop-down menu will appear. Check the last box labeled “Choose my own repeating dates” and fill in the dates of your choice.
5. After writing about your event (maybe include some big items up for grabs, or special items, like a year’s worth of baby clothes) check the box under “Categories” labeled “Garage Sales.”
6. You can leave contact information in the designated box if you like. If you’re all done, scroll all the way to the bottom and press “Post My Event.”
7. Congratulations! Your garage sale event has been posted.
