Thanksgiving Tips From Author and TV Host d'Arabian

The Food Network personality offers her thoughts on how to prepare a successful meal for that most important of family gatherings.

Coronado resident Melissa d'Arabian has had a big year, Ten Dollar Dinners, based on her successful Food Network show of the same name.

Now, on her blog, she's offering up tips on how you can prepare a successful Thanksgiving dinner for you and yours. Yes, it's just over a week away! Are you ready?

Here are some of the how-tos and highlights:

  • Which of her Food Network colleagues has the go-to recipe for the centerpiece of the meal, the turkey? Bobby Flay? Guy Fieri? Nope. It's Alton Brown. She explains the one element that makes the difference.
  • Save yourself the torture of preparing the bird if you don't have a big brood to serve – downsize to a turkey breast only.
  • And of course, she's all about the budget: Want to have something else on the big day and a complete turkey dinner a day or two later? Yep, you'll save some coin.

The blog is one of several features on her website, which includes recipes and info on her shows.
