A group of about 100 riders mounted their motorcycles Saturday and rode together in a show of support for Andrew Tahmooressi, the Marine reservist being held in a Mexican jail.

The ride began at San Diego Harley-Davidson's main location at 4645 Morena Blvd. in San Diego at 11 a.m. Saturday and ended at San Diego Harley-Davidson's Kearny Mesa location at 5600 Kearny Mesa Rd., according to a Harley-Davidson employee.

A CHP officer told a dispatcher that there was about 100 riders traveling in a group on southbound Interstate 5 shortly after 11 a.m.

According to a tweet from a 10News reporter, the riders were on their way towards the U.S.-Mexico border.

Tahmooressi, 25, is the Marine sergeant and veteran of the war in Afghanistan who was jailed in Tijuana on April 1 when he crossed the San Ysidro border carrying three weapons and several hundred rounds of ammunition. Possession of weapons or ammo in Mexico is a serious crime, and signs in English warn of that on highways in advance of the boundary.

He is now being held in a jail cell in Tecate and has a court hearing in Tijuana set for July 9, after a May 28 court date was cancelled when Tahmooressi fired his first attorney.

The Harley-Davidson employee said today's ride to support Tahmooressi in his fight to be released from jail and allowed to cross back into the United States.

Worse yet...they don't even have to train them as terrorists. Just use that oil money to fund mass exodus thru our borders and we fight amongst each other to keep them here. Killing us from the inside and we help.

they don't want our guns to illegally cross the border. we don't want any people crossing our borders illegally. perhaps the two neighboring nations should focus on mutual respect for each others' values.
