Leader No. 12: Evan Parent Aims to Use Energy to Boost Renewables

The 30-year-old recently served as a delegate for the Democratic National Convention.

Evan Parent knows activism.

Parent—30, who works as a service manager and system designer for Stellar Solar—is the south state regional director for the California Young Democrats and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

“My biggest accomplishment thus far was being elected as a delegate to the DNC in Charlotte in 2012,” he said. “I wish to continue my activism with an emphasis in renewable energy. Perhaps in the near future, we can harness the power of the tides.”

Parent said he finds inspiration from various people, including his friends.

Advice for young people:

“What kind of advice would you give to young and budding leaders?  Being a leader is not about who you hang out with, what organizations you’ve paid dues to, or what ‘leadership’ classes you've taken. Being a leader is about setting an example for those around you. It is about who you are as a person, and what you do as that person.”

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
