Leader No. 10: Neil Mashruwala Was Youngest to Develop iPhone App

The 10-year-old at Murdock Elementary School created his first app when he was just 9.

Neil Mashruwala said he first became interested in computers when he was just 2. At age 7, he began developing a website and at 9 he created the iPhone app Soccer Pachinko.

Neil, a 10-year-old student at Murdock Elementary School near La Mesa, is the youngest person to have created an app and said he has two others on its way. He said getting into the software industry is where he wants to go.

“My future goals are that I want to become a software designer and I’ll make an app which will change the directions of the software industry—something which is really different and nobody thought of,” he said.

Meanwhile, Neil finds inspiration from his parents and his cousin who taught him about game development.

Advice for young people:

“To not give up until you find a solution.”

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
