Heavy Traffic Expected on South Bay Highways Saturday Night

Police officers are planning to be on the lookout inside the venue and in parking lots for underage drinking and public intoxication.

Tonight's Kings of Leon show at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista is expected to tie up traffic, and police have advised concertgoers and area residents to consider alternate routes.

Officials with the Chula Vista Police Department said southbound Interstate 805 would likely be congested to Main Street through about 1 a.m. due to construction combined with traffic from the venue's first show of the season. Heavy traffic on Main Street to the freeway is also anticipated.

One alternate route to access the stretch of Main Street impacted by increased traffic involves taking the South Bay Expressway to Otay Mesa Road, while another involves heading south on Interstate 5 to eastbound state Route 905, then taking  northbound Interstate 805 onto the Main Street exit, according to police.
