Coast Guard Cutter Sherman Crew Get Warm Welcome Home [Photos]

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Sherman and its 170-member crew returned to their Southern California homeport Friday following a 50-day Eastern Pacific patrol.

Family and friends of the personnel gathered dockside to welcome them home, after the 378-foot government vessel docked on San Diego Harbor in the late morning, according to a USCG spokesperson.

The crew engaged in maritime drug interdiction, search-and-rescue operations and community-relations events during the deployment, officials said.
