Visual Display Celebrates USS Coronado at Coronado Museum of History & Art

To celebrate the Navy's newest LCS-4 ship arrival, the USS Coronado, the Coronado Historical Association has mounted a photographic display in the lobby of the Coronado Museum of History & Art.

The USS Coronado, the third Navy ship named after the city, was commissioned by Coronado resident and history enthusiast Susan Keith. The ship will arrive in Coronado in early 2014. She is a Littoral Combat Ship, a class of (relatively) small vessels produced by the US Navy, which are intended for use close to shore in regions around the world.

After the ship arrives there will be a formal commissioning ceremony. Due to the historical connection between the Navy and Coronado, the Coronado Historical Association is taking a lead role in helping to plan this event.

Besides the photographic display, the Museum Store has been stocked with USS Coronado merchandise, including hats, t-shirts, and water bottles to celebrate this momentous occasion.
