At CHA’s “Wine & Lecture” event this Friday, July 18, at 5:30 p.m., Dan McGeorge, proprietor of one of Coronado’s finest galleries, will tell the fascinating tale of the historical intersection of nineteenth century author R. H. Dana, Jr. (and his American classic, Two Years Before the Mast) with Coronado. This will be an absorbing page from history you haven’t heard before!
This compelling story includes Dana’s visits to San Diego Bay beginning in 1834, the naming of R. H. Dana Place in Coronado by an act of our City Council, the hidden connections between Coronado and New England, and McGeorge’s recent efforts to provide a commemorative sculpture of Dana for the Coronado community.
CHA’s Wine & Lecture events are free to the public; wine is available at $5 per glass. No RSVP required, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call (619) 435-7242.
