The City of Coronado will soon begin accepting applications for vessel storage as crews work to complete the new Club Room and Boathouse on Glorietta Bay.
Coronado residents may submit their applications starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 22. Nonresidents can submit their applications beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 5.
Storage is for non-motorized paddle and rowing vessels only.
Applications for vessel storage spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be submitted with a $250 deposit that will be refunded if space is not available.
Please note that applications dropped off or received via U.S. mail or fax prior to the specified date will not be considered.
The Boathouse is expected to be ready for boat storage by early November. The maximum storage rental period is two years. At the end of two years, vessels must be removed; however, renters may request that their names be added to the bottom of the wait list.
Residency must be established prior to submitting an application. Proof of residency may be established with a government-issued I.D and any one of the following documents: utility bill; current military housing orders of at least six months; current lease or rental agreement of at least six months; property tax statement; or personal check imprinted with a Coronado address.
Proof of residency must be dropped off at the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way; faxed to (619) 522-7870; or emailed to cityreccontact@coronado.ca.us.
Applications are available at the Community Center or online at www.coronado.ca.us/paddle (also see media box). Applications may be faxed or emailed, but will not be recorded as complete until the deposit is received.
Security deposits are $250 per vessel, regardless of how they are stored.
