Navy Warns of Noise From Upcoming Anti-Terrorism Exercises

Naval Base San Diego is participating in an anti-terrorism and force protection exercise Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Navy will use realistic simulations and special effects to add to the authenticity of the training experience for first responders. This will involve noise and activity on and near the base's piers on San Diego Bay.

Residents and workers near Naval Base San Diego and across San Diego Bay in Coronado, the Silver Strand and Imperial Beach might see or hear unusual or surprising activity both days between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This exercise, the Citadel Protect, tests and assesses the Navy's capability to protect ships from various potential threats in ports at home and overseas.

For more information about the Citadel Protect exercise, contact Brian O'Rourke at Navy Region Southwest, (619) 532-4717.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
